  • Darren Baker - Artist

  • After graduation Darren exhibited in London and at the age of 23 was invited to exhibit at a UK millennium show in New York. In the same year he was appointed official artist of The Professional Footballer's Association.

However it was not until Darren discovered his love for the 'still-life' that his career really took off. Taking his work locally and nationally his works have started to attract critical praise "Bathed in varying light conditions, he arranges and describes everyday objects with delicate sensitivity. They have a delicious attention to detail. Baker's paintings also suggest a human presence, the objects are seemingly left in a natural state yet are so artfully organized" (International Artist Magazine). This swell of interest in Darren's work led to his decision to open a gallery exclusively featuring his work.'

Darren has received commissions from many blue-chip galleries, companies and leading personalities. He has exhibited widely, through North America, Japan, Europe and UK. In London both the Royal Academy and Mall Galleries accept his work. Darren's paintings hang in private and public collections at home and abroad. He works intensively every day in his studio in Holmfirth. He has worked on subjects for companies and galleries, stretching from still life, interior, portraiture, figurative, equestrian, landscape, ballet and sport. Indeed he is currently receiving acclaim for his painting of The Wales grand Slam triumph, officially endorsed by Team Wales.

His portraits are much sought after, having produced footballer of the year portraits for The PFA (Ruud van Nistelrooy and Teddy Sheringham). Even to the extent that portraits of Prince Charles and Tony Blair hang in St Jame's Palace and 10 Downing St respectively.
